Bloomsbury Farm School is looking for a creative, energetic, joyful, and knowledgeable person to join our School House education team. Minimum requirements: 

  • Minimum of 3 years of teaching experience (leadership experience preferred).

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field

  • Certification: Valid TN Teaching License (Elementary Education) and/or alternative certification (Montessori)

  • Dedicated to expanding access to early learning, child-directed and play-based learning, and the outdoors. 

  • Strong understanding of child development, instructional best practices, emergent education practices, and classroom management.

  • Current CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Comfortable standing, crouching, walking long distances, and teaching outside in all weather conditions

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Love of nature and comfort in an immersive nature classroom 

  • Willing and confident to teach across multiple grade levels, ages 5-12

  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and organizational skills.

Preferred/Bonus Experience:

  • Experience as an outdoor/environmental/agricultural educator 

  • Strong understanding of basic ecology

  • Knowledge of native Tennessee flora and fauna

  • Experience in curriculum writing/program development

  • Musical/artistic/otherwise 

Key Responsibilities:

Instruction & Curriculum Development:

  • Develop and implement engaging lesson plans aligned with state and school curriculum standards within the framework of outdoor learning.

  • Differentiate instruction to support diverse learning styles and abilities.

  • Address and meet the unique learning needs of students and partner with families for student success.

  • Assess student progress using formative and summative assessments, form and informal observations and adjusting instruction as needed.

Classroom & Behavior Management:

  • Establish and maintain a structured, inclusive, and positive classroom environment.

  • Implement classroom management strategies that promote respect, responsibility, and engagement.

  • Foster a culture of collaboration, critical thinking, and lifelong learning.

Leadership & Collaboration:

  • Serve as a mentor and collaborator with fellow teachers and contribute to professional development initiatives.

  • Collaborate with colleagues, administration, and support staff to enhance student success.

  • Participate in school-wide initiatives, parent-teacher conferences, work days, school events.

  • Maintain open communication with parents/guardians to support student learning and development through our school database and communication app.

Student Support & Engagement:

  • Build strong relationships with students to support their academic, social, and emotional growth.

  • Address diverse learning needs through interventions, accommodations, and enrichment activities.

Professional Expectations:

  • Attendance at all planned school events, weekdays and weekends

  • Attendance at all staff meetings and Professional Development Days

  • Willingness to be observed periodically by teacher trainees and other professionals

  • Promptness and consistency in schedule of Monday thru Friday, 8:30am-4:30pm, August thru May

  • Independent Lead guide for Kindergarten class, 8 students, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday from 9am-3:30pm

  • Teaching outside in all seasons and guiding your students to learn safely in their encounters with the elements and the natural world

  • Creating and implementing structured lesson plans for your students Tue-Thurs by observing student interests, abilities, and seasonal opportunities to engage with and allow nature to be the teacher. You will have access to a large library of books, learning resources, and curricula to guide your class's journey.

  • Planning and implementing lessons alongside fellow teachers for the younger students in our full day Monday/Friday enrichment classes, as well as cooperative learning in science, social studies, and other enrichment subjects.

  • Keeping your class's materials and spaces well organized and stewarded

  • Daily communication with parents/families about their child's progress and success

  • Working with children is your passion

  • Summer Camp counseling experience and/or teaching experience

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Must pass background check

  • Must be comfortable standing, crouching, walking long distances, and teaching outside in the elements

  • Must be able to lift 50 lbs

  • Must be comfortable interacting with farm animals, bugs, nature

  • Willing to be silly and engaging with campers

  • Interested and willing to be outdoors and in all weather with a positive attitude

  • Must be 18 or older


Preferred/Bonus Experience:

  • Experience as an outdoor/environmental/agricultural educator

  • Experience with outdoor adventure skills

  • Musical/artistic/otherwise creative talent


The responsibilities of this role include:

  • M-F work schedule 8:30am-3:30pm

  • Teaching outside in all seasons and guiding campers to learn safely in their encounters with the elements and the natural world

  • Engaging with other staff and students in a friendly and communicative manner. We are a team, and we care for each other and the children best as a team

  • Planning and implementing fun camp activities

  • Dressing appropriately for the weather (it gets warm!) and we try to be outside as much as possible

  • Communicating with parents/families about their experience at camp

If empowering children and parents to learn and create through immersive outdoor experiences in the forests and farm lands of Bloomsbury Farm sounds like a dream (and it is), please contact us with your resume.

16 weeks August thru December 2025, 16 weeks March thru June 2026. *Possible availability to start April - June 2025

On site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:30am-11:30am, leading sessions 9am-11am, 13 hours a week (12 on site, + planning time.)

Minimum requirements: 

  • Leading children and guardians through thoughtful play and exploration brings you joy

  • Early childhood experience and/or experience in related field

  • CPR/First Aid Certification

  • Must pass background check

  • Must be comfortable standing, crouching, walking long distances, and teaching outside in the elements

The responsibilities of this role include:

  • On site Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 8:30-11:30, leading sessions 9-11

  • Planning and facilitating immersive outdoor learning experiences for ages 0-3 and their guardians: maintaining a safe, nurturing environment to empower children and guardians in all seasons/weather.

  • Plan weekly activities for attending families T,W,Th 9-11, to nurture the developmental stages of little sprout goers, while managing whole group experiences; honor young children as independent, capable thinkers, through child-directed, experiential, hands on, nature approaches.

  • Daily set-up/break-down/clean up of spaces used.

  • Keep class materials organized & stewarded, communicating needed materials with director. 

  • Communication with parents/families regarding weather (communicate with the director to make cancellation calls), class scheduling, general needed information.

  • Be an enthusiastic role model of nature-based child-guardian experiences; maintaining a safe, positive atmosphere.

  • Adhere to the policies put forward in the employee handbook.

  • Provide positive guidance to children in navigating their social interactions with peers and adults.

  • Maintain friendly yet professional interpersonal communication skills and relationships with children, families, fellow staff and volunteers. 

  • Be comfortable and familiar with farm animals and working farm on-goings and incorporate season happenings into activities and lessons. 

  • Engage in a rhythm of reflection, inquiry, observation, trial-and-error, risk-taking, perseverance, discussion, problem-solving, expression, and teamwork through a balance of emergent curriculum, intentional activities, and unstructured nature play.

  • Model and seek out best practices and approaches to nature-based early childhood education.

  • Communicate weekly regarding needs, successes, and concerns.

  • Follow safety procedures and protocols.

  • Notify the director of changes in schedule or substitute needs and prepare/schedule accordingly.
